Virtual reality is gaining huge ground in the gaming and tech world. (what meta verse does) To game with Play station and Nintendo is very cool and entertaining. On the other hand, VR gives the kind of entertainment which you get when playing physical games.  VR reality gaming is more like a solo physical sport, which contains entertainment and exercise without dual players. When you are in virtual reality, everything looks like another world or universe, just like the metaverse. Have you ever what it is? Or how does it work? That’s why you are here, here, you’ll find out briefly what virtual reality is, the examples, the technology behind it, and applications of VR in engineering.

What is Virtual Reality and How do they work?

Virtually reality is a fully immersive computer-simulated environment that gives the user the feeling of being in the technologically created environment instead of the one they are actually in. Most games and training programs now use this tech as said earlier, which places players in a kind of world that feels real and engaged. You as a player, are a spectator overseeing the events that are happening in that world. This VR is experienced using the VR headset.

This uses a stereoscopic display to make you see in 3-dimensional. Placing you in a virtual world, the headset will serve as your POV, which you can turn around to see the virtual environment. For navigation, virtual interaction allows a user to control navigation which makes them walk around, turn, and navigate the virtual environment with changes. Not only will you be able to move in such an environment, but you would also be able to interact with objects and persons. When this interaction goes on for a long term, your brain will get adaptive and it will feel real.

Examples of Virtual Reality

VR is well known in the entertainment and sport sector, but also vastly used in the medical, military, manufacturing, and Education sector.

Medical

VR is used in making simulations of surgery, before performing it in real life. When there’s a new type of surgery to be performed, there are some practical sections that will graphically represent the situation before the real performance. This simulation comes in a virtual reality mode where you can move body parts, and operate them. This can also be used for performing in performing remote surgery. With that, a doctor in another country or another state could direct another doctor far away using virtual or argument simulation of the surgery.

Military

The military now uses virtual reality technology to teach its force men about equipment. Presently in the air force, some countries like the US and UK use this tech to train for flying and operating jets and planes before handling the real ones. The plane models and operating architecture are programmed and designed in a virtual format. These formats will include every operating part of the plane which you will be able to operate and feel their effect just like in real life.

Manufacturing

Having a new product to be produced especially when they are complex. Manufacturing a new product requires a product design, which gives a summary of the product. Doing this with virtual or augmented reality technology will give details of every part of the product. With this technology, you can separate and rejoin every part of the product simulation.

Education and Training Sector

This is mostly used in training people on how to use a mechanical device that is being simulated. Replacing the fact that some new learners might lead to damage equipment at first training. Examples are common in the military for the driving simulator, flight simulator, and other equipment that requires training.

Applications of VR in Engineering

In Design and engineering, the virtual reality tech to model and design new hardware technologies like engines. An environment will be created with different engineering parts being accessible. These parts will feel real and you will be able to join or couple them together. This will lead in building functional engineering equipment. VR tech is also used in architecture and construction.

Virtual reality home models allow architects to experience and understand a designed building before they are constructed. In the future, VR will be used for simulation, design, and testing of new engineering gadgets and hardware before they are built.
